Classification Writing

          Animals are classified into 2 group : vertebrates and invertebrates. Examples of vertebrates are reptiles, birds , fish , mammals and amphibians. Examples of  invertebrates are protozoa , coelenterates , flatworms , annelid worms , molluscs , echinoderms and arthropods. And last examples of arthropods are arachnids , crustaceans , insects and myriapods

                    Bio-metrics can be classified into 2 types : physiological and behavioral. 
The first examples of physiological are face , fingerprint , hand iris and DNA.
And last examples of behavioral are keystroke , signature and voice.

Compound sentence

Compound sentence แปลว่า อเนกัตถประโยค หมายถึงที่มี simple sentence 2 ประโยคมารวมเข้าด้วยกัน ทั้งนี้โดยเชื่อด้วย co-ordinator เป็นแกนนำอันสำคัญ

ตัวอย่าง เช่น เป็น simple sentence เพราะแยกกันอยู่
He is poor he is honest.
เขายากจน เขาซื่อสัตว์
เป็น compound sentence เพราะมีตัวประสานมาเชื่อม
Hi is poor but he is honest
เขายากจนแต่เขาก็ซื่อสัตว์
ดังนั้น ตัวประสานที่มาเชื่อมเพื่อเป็น compound sentence ได้แก่
1. เครื่องหมายวรรคตอน ( punctuation )
2. วิเศษณ์เชื่อม (conjunctive adverb)
3. สันธานประสาน (co-ordinate conjunction )


การเชื่อมด้วยเครื่องหมายวรรคตอน
เครื่องหมายวรรคตอนที่นิยมนำมาใช้เชื่อม Simple Sentence เพื่อให้เป็น Compound Sentence มีดังต่อไปนี้

Colon (:)
Dash (-)
Comma (,)

Semi- colon (;) ใช้ประโยคในกรณีที่ผู้เขียนยังรู้สึกไม่อยากขึ้นต้นประโยคใหม่ เพราะเห็นว่าใจความยังต่อเนื่องคาบเกี่ยวกันอยู่ ซึ่งก็เป็นความรู้สึกของผู้เขียนประโยคนั้นเท่านั้น ผู้เขียนคนอื่นอาจรู้สึกเป็นอย่างอื่น และอาจจะใช้ period (.) แทน semi_colon ขึ้นต้นประโยคใหม่ก็ได้

ตัวอย่าง

Daeng was sick ; he didn,t work yesterday.
= Daeng was sick. He didn work yesterday.
แดงไม่สบาย เขาไม่ทำงานเมื่อวาน

Colon (:) และ Dash (-) 2 เครื่องหมายอันนี้ใช้เชื่อมในกรณีที่เขียนเห็นว่าผลของประโยคหลังมีสาเหตุมาจากประโยคข้างหน้าโดยแท้ เช่นจากตัวอย่างข้างบนถ้าผู้เขียนเห็นว่า การที่แดงไม่ทำงานเมื่อวานนี้ก็เป็นผลโดยตรงจากการไม่สบาย ก็อาจใช้ colon หรือ dash มาเชื่อมแทนได้

ตัวอย่าง

Daeng was sick : he didn t work yesterday.
หรือ Daeng was sick - he didn t work yesterday.
= Daeng was sick ; he didn t work yesterday.
= Daeng was sick . he didn t work yesterday.


Comma(,)เครื่องหมายอันนี้นิยมใช้เชื่อมในกรณีผู้เขียนเห็นว่า เหตุการณ์ที่กล่าวถึงนั้นถ้าจะขึ้นต้นประโยคใหม่ก็จะทำให้ขาดความต่อเนื่อง ทำให้เสียภาพพจน์ของเหตุการณ์จึงจำเป็นต้องใช้ comma เชื่อมเพื่อรักษาความต่อเนื่องเอาไว้ (แทนที่จะขึ้นต้นประโยคใหม่)


การเชื่อมด้วย conjunctive abverb

Conjunctive Abverb (คำวิเศษเชื่อม) Simple Sentence เพื่อให้เป็น Compound Sentence นั้นแบ่งออกเป็น 2 ชนิดคือ

1. ชนิดคำที่มีลักษณะเป็นการเติมเข้ามาเพื่อเน้นให้ผู้อ่านผู้ฟังได้ฉุกคิด หรือเน้นให้เห็นข้อสังเกตได้ชัดขึ้น ได้แก่คำในทำนองต่อไปนี้คือ

However อย่างไรก็ตาม moreover ยิ่งกว่านั้น
Furthermore ยิ่งกว่านั้น consequently ดังนั้น
Nevertheless อย่างไรก็ดี accordingly เพราะฉะนั้น
Meanwhile ระหว่างนี้ therefore ดังนั้น

ตัวอย่าง

- john was sick ; he did go to school.
จอห์นไม่สบาย แม้กระนั้นเขาก็ยังไปโรงเรียนได้

-Amnat had a bad cold ; therefore , he didn t work.
อำนาจเป็นไข้หวัด ดังนั้นเขาจึงไม่ทำงาน

-She was tired and thisrsty ; moreover , she wariness cold.
หล่อนเหนื่อยและกระหายน้ำ ยิ่งกว่านั้นก็ยังหนาวอีกด้วย

-I don know this ; nevertheless, I don trust him.
ผมไม่รู้จักชายนี้ ยิ่งกว่านั้นผมก็ไม่ไว้วางใจเขาอีก

-My friend has stayed with me at home for a long time ; meanwhile,I take him to see Wat Po.
เพื่อนของผมได้มาพักอยู่กับผมที่บ้นเป็นเวลานาน ระหว่างนี้ผมได้พาเขาไปชมวัดโพธิ์


2.ชนิดที่มีความหมายเป็น Transitional word (คำที่มีความหมายเปลี่ยนแปลงจากสิ่งหนึ่งเป็นอีกสิ่งหนึ่ง) ซึ่งมีความหมายอ่อนลงมามาก จนอาจใช้เสมือนเป็น Adverd ธรรมดา หรือเหมือนคำ Conjunctive ธรรมดา ได้แก่คำในทำนองต่อไปนี้ คือ
Otherwise มิฉะนั้น thus ดังนั้น
Still ยังคง hence ดังนั้น
Yet ยัง เช่น :-
(คำจำพวกนี้ใช้ comma คั่นข้างหน้า ข้างหลังไม่ต้องมีอะไร)

ตัวอย่าง

-Do what you are told , otherwise you de punished.
จงทำอย่างที่เขาบอกให้ทำ มิฉะนั้นคุณจะถูกทำโทษ

-There is no rain in the country hence the crops are likely to die.
ไม่มีฝนเลยในประเทศนี้ ดังนั้นพืชพันธ์จึงจวนจะตาย

-David was sick thus he went to see a doctor.
เดวิดไม่สบาย ดังนั้นเขาจึงไปหาหมอ

-He worked very still he didn’t complain.
เขาทำงานหนักมาก แต่เขาก็ไม่บ่น

อนึ่ง conjunctive adverb ที่กล่าวมานี้ จะใช้เชื่อมควบคู่กับสันธาร co-ordinate conjunction ตัวอื่นก็ได้
ตัวอย่าง

-Do what you ard told or otherwise you be punished.
จงทำอย่างที่ขาให้ทำ หรือมิฉะนั้นแล้วคุณจะถูกทำโทษ
(otherwise ใช้เชื่อมควบคู่กับ oR)

-David was sick and thus he went to see a doctor.
เดวิดไม่สบาย ดังนั้นเขาจึงไปหาหมอ
(thus ใช้เชื่อมควบคู่กับ and)


การเชื่อมด้วย co-ordinate conjunction
co-ordinate conjunction (สันธานประสาน) ที่นำมาใช้เชื่อมประโยค simple sentence เพื่อให้ เป็นcompound sentence (ประโยครวม)นั้นแบ่งออกเป็น4 ชนิด หรือ 4 แบบ คือ
1.แบบรวม ( Cumulative ) ได้แก่ and และคำเทียบเท่า
2. แบบเลือก ( disjunctive )ได้แก่ or และคำเทียบเท่า
3.แบบแยก (adversative ) ได้แก่ but และคำเทียบเท่า
4.แบบเหตุผล (Illative) ได้แก่ so และคำเทียบเท่า


1.1 แบบรวมได้แก่ and และคำที่มีความหมายคล้าย and (the cumulative and - type)ที่นำมาใช้เชื่อมเพื่อให้เป็น compound sentence ได้แก่คำต่อไปนี้คือ
And และ
And……too และ….อีกด้วย
And…..also และ…..อีกด้วย
And also และอีกด้วย
As well as และก็, พอๆ กันกับ
And…..as well และ……อีกด้วย
Both….and ทั้ง…….และ
Not only….but also ไม่เพียง…...เท่านั้น แต่…..อีกด้วย
เช่น :- mary is tired and hungry.
แมรี่เหนื่อยและหิว
mary is tired and hungry too.
แมรี่เหนื่อยและหิวอีกด้วย
mary is tired and hungry also.
แมรี่เหนื่อยและก็หิวอีกด้วย
mary is tired and also hungry.
แมรี่เหนื่อยและก็หิวอีกด้วย
mary is tired as well as hungry.
แมรี่เหนื่อยพอๆ กันกับหิว
mary is tired and hungry as well.
แมรี่เหนื่อยและก็หิวอีกด้วย
mary is not only tired but also hungry.
แมรี่ไม่เพียงแต่เหนื่อยเท่านั้น แต่ยังหิวอีกด้วย


1.2 แบบเลือกได้แก่ or และคำที่มีความหมายคล้าย or
(the disjunctive or-type )ที่นำมาใช้เชื่อมเพื่อให้เป็น compound sentence ได้แก่คำ

Or หรือ , มิฉะนั้นแล้ว
Or else หรือมิฉะนั้น
Either….or (อันนี้) หรือ (อันนั้น)
Neither…nor ไม่ (ทั้งอันนี้) และ (อันนั้น)

ตัวอย่าง

-He must go now or will miss the plane.
เขาจะต้องไปเดี๋ยวนี้ มิฉะนั้นแล้วเขาจะไม่ทันเครื่องบิน

-He must do this or else hell punished.
เขาจะต้องทำสิ่งนี้ หรือ มิฉะนั้นแล้วเขาจะถูกทำโทษ

-Either you or he has to do this.
คุณหรือเขาก็ได้ต้องทำสิ่งนี้

-Neither your friends have to go to school on Sunday.
ทั้งคุณและเพื่อนของคุณไม่ต้องไป ร.ร วันอาทิตย์


3.3 แบบแยกได้แก่ but และคำที่มีความหมายคล้าย but (the adversative but-type)ที่นำมาใช้เชื่อมเพื่อให้เป็น compound sentence นั้นได้แก่คำต่อไปนี้คือ
But แต่
While แต่,ส่วน
Whereas แต่, ด้วยเหตุนี้
Yet ยัง,ถึงอย่างนั้น
Still ยัง, ถึงอย่างนั้น

ตัวอย่าง

- Sombat didn’t work hard but he passed his examination.
สมบัติมิได้เรียน (ทำ) อย่างขะมักเขม้นเท่าไร แต่เขาก็สอบผ่าน

-She is very beautiful while all her sisters are ugly.
หล่อนเป็นคนสวยมาก ในขณะที่น้องสาวทุกคนของหล่อนมีแต่คนขี้เหล่

-Wise men love truth whereas fools shun it.
คนฉลาดรักแต่ความจริง ส่วนคนโง่ชอบหลีกเลี่ยง

-Robert worked well yet he failed.
โรเบิร์ตทำงานดี ถึงอย่างนั้นเขาก็ยังต้องประสบความล้มเหลว

-The pain was bad still he did not complain.
ความเจ็บปวดนั้นแย่มาก (เจ็บมาก)ถึงกระนั้นเขาก็ไม่บ่น

อนึ่งในกลุ่มหรือแบบ But – type จะนำเอา Conjuntive Adverd (บางตัว)มาใช้ร่วมด้วยก็ได้ ได้แก่คำต่อไปนี้

However = อย่างไรก็ตาม แม้กระนั้น

ตัวอย่าง

-The sun is shinning however I’m sure it rain .

พระอาทิตย์กำลังส่องแสง แม้กระนั้นผมก็ยังแน่ใจว่าฝนฝนยังจะตกอยู่ดี
Nevertheless = อย่างไรก็ตาม แม้กระนั้น

ตัวอย่าง

-There was no news nevertheless she went no hoping
ไม่มีข่าวเลย แม้กระนั้นหล่อนก็ยังหวังต่อไป (ว่าจะมี)


On the other hand = แต่ แม้กระนั้น นิยมใช้กับข้อความที่ขัดแย้งหรือตรงกันข้าม เช่น
>>This shirt is cheap on the other hand its quality is poor
เสื้อตัวนี้ถึงถูกก็จริง แต่คุณภาพของมันสิแย่

For all that = ถึงอย่างนั้น ทั้งๆ อย่างนั้น เช่น
>>Sak says he right for all that tm sure he wrong
ศักดิ์พูดว่าเขาถูกก็จริง แต่ถึงอย่างนั้นผมก็ยังคิดว่าเขาผิดอยู่นั่นแหละ


1.4 แบบเชื่อมความซึ่งเป็นเหตุเป็นผลแก่กันและกัน ได้แก่ so และคำที่มีความหมายคล้าย so the Illative so- type ได้แก่คำต่อไปนี้คือ
So ดังนั้น
For เพราะ, เพราะเหตุว่า
Therefore ดังนั้น
Consequently ดังนั้น
Accordingly เพราะฉะนั้น

ตัวอย่าง

-So : it s time to go so let start our journey.
ถึงเวลาไปแล้ว ดังนั้นเราก็เริ่มออกเดินทางได้แล้ว

-For : I went in for the door was open.
ผมเข้าไปข้างใน เพราะประตูเปิดไว้

-Therefore : he was found guilty ; Therefore he was imprisoned.
ได้พบแล้วว่าเขามีความผิด ดังนั้นเขาจึงถูกจำคุก

-Consequently : chat was sick ; Consequently , he didn’t go to school.
ชาติไม่สบาย เพราะฉะนั้นเขาจึงไม่ไปโรงเรียน

Grammar for Writing

On  the  Road

        Matthew  and  Rudolf  Louis (Jenny)  are(is)  migrant  farm  workers.  Every  summer (Winter),  they(She)  drive(drove)  up  the  coast  of  California  to  Oregon  to  work  in  apple  orchard.  Their  1268  pickup  doesn't  go  very  fast,  so  it  takes  the  several  days  to  get  there.  

            First,  they(She)  pack  the  truck  with  their  clothes,  a  tent,  and  some  food.  Then,  they(She)  jump in  the  truck, turn  on  the  radio, and  make(made)  themselves comfortable. Their  dog  goes  with  them,  but  it  sits  in  the  back  of  the  truck.  They(She)  don’t stay  in  hotels.  They  camp  in  parks  on  the  way.  

They(She)  don’t  eat  dinner  in  restaurants. Instead  they(she)  cook  for  themselves. They(She)  arrive  at  their  first  orchard  in  a  few  days.  They(She)  find  themselves  a  place  to  camp  and  get  ready  for  the  next  day’s  work.
